18h BOG Meeting and CM’s Visit

	18^th Board of Governors Meeting was held in the college on 5^th Nov 09. Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” who is also the chairman of the BOG arrives in the college for the meeting. Hon’ble CM further inaugurated the Administration Building, New Kailash Hostel, Bhaghirathi Hostel and Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame contains the boards containing the list of Branch Toppers of B.Tech Course of Different Years. Further it also contains a board having the Name of the Champion Department of the College in every field i.e. academics, Cultural & Sports. Dr. Nishank arrives at 4:45 pm in the college at M.G. Auditorium and welcomed by the Principal Col. J.S. Virk along with all Heads and Deans of the college. There he inaugurate the stones of different newly constructed Hostels. At this occasion Dr. Durg Singh Chauhan, Vice Chancellor Uttarakhand University, Prof. Pundir, Principal UTU, Mr. Avadesh Nautiyal Controller Examination UTU, DM Pauri, SP Pauri and other renowned persons were present. Then at 5:00 pm the Chief Guest with other Board Members enters in the MG. Auditorium for the Prize ceremony. The Prizes were given to the Branch Toppers up to 6^th Semester of B.Tech Course. The function continues with the awards to best faculty. The best faculty selected for the award were Mr. Manoj Panda, Lecturer EE, Mr. Ashutosh Gupta Lecturer ME, Ms. Rajshri Rana Lecturer ASHD. Further, the awards were given to the Best Employees of the College for the Year 2009. The employees selected for the same were Mr. Guman Singh Bisht Clerk Examination, Mr. Suresh Kumar Peon CSED & Mr. Nautiyal Cook Kedar Mess. After the award ceremony, in the welcome speech Principal, GBPEC points towards the achievements and shortcomings of the college. The college vision document “Vision 2012” was also inaugurated by hon’ble CM. In his speech Hon’ble CM Dr. Nishank informed about the potentials of the college and wishes the college to emerge as a Centre of Excellence under “TEQIP Phase – II”. A mini cultural night was organized by the Students of the College under the guidance of Function Coordinator Ms. Neelam Bahuguna B.Tech (IV Yr). The first Program was a beautiful “Traditional Garhwali Dance” choreographed by Prashant Mamgain & Team. The program was highly appreciated by the Hon’ble CM and other VIPs present in the MG Auditorium. The second Item was presented by CSE Final year group directed by Aman Kachhal named as “Krishna Avatar”. This performance of the students impressed the hon’ble CM and other members so that Chief Secy of the State Mr. Rakesh Kumar invited both the Teams to present the two performances in the Opening night of the Foundation Day Ceremony of the Uttarakhand State on 8^th and 11^th November 2009. After this performance all the VIPs move to the Board of Governer Meeting. Rest of the Guests and students enjoyed the function. Further the function continues with the beautiful dance performance by MCA 1^st Yr students on a Garhwali song. Finally the cultural Night ends with a patriotic dance by B.Tech 1^st Yr Girls “Maa thujhe Salam” choreographed by Ms. Anupriya Gautam B.Tech 2^nd Year & Team.
