AN OVERVIEW OF THE FIELD:

Electronics and communication is a field with incomparable possibilities where most of it is still to be discovered.

Electronics is a branch of science dealing with the flow of electrons in solid, liquid or gas under different operating conditions. Electronics engineering deals with the study of semiconductor devices as a major part of it although most of it is yet to be discovered.

Communication is a process whereby information is enclosed in the form of packets and is imparted by sender to a receiver via a channel. Communication can be considered as the back-bone of the present scenario.

We as electronics and communication engineers develop the hardware required for the realization of the above jobs. Graduates of this program may begin to pursue career opportunities in a variety of entry-level positions, such as electronics engineering technologist, electronics engineering assistant, engineering sales/service representative, computer systems technologist, technical consultant, telecommunications technician, communication systems installer, and field service representative, engineering technician or research technician.

This requires a keen understanding of the basic aspects involved in electronics and communication. And the T.S.E.C. is an effort to strengthen and equip oneself in all the related issues of  the field so that one emerges as a complete electronics engineer.

 FORMATION OF THE SOCIETY:

Our vision:

Technologists require keeping themselves well aware about the recent developments as the field has never ending scope of development.

Aim:

Ø To improve understanding of technology; its appropriate application and potential consequences.

Ø To take up technical and other research in selected and specialized areas of vital importance for augmenting and accelerating sustainable development in field of ECE.

Ø To disseminate vital information to members through circulars and seminars.

Ø To create professional brotherhood and friendship, and to bring unity and cooperation amongst its members.

Proposed activities:

Ø Holding workshops in technical design and engineering for its members.

Ø  Organizing at least weekly meetings for the various running programs.

Ø Interacting with faculty, seniors, and other similar associations for curriculum development, knowledge transfer, training of trainers etc.

ACTIVITIES & WORKSHOPS OF THE SOCIETY

ROBOTICS

Robotics is the engineering, science and technology of robots, and their design, manufacture, and application.

This particular hobby has been pursued by its members (students) in full earnest, and the extension of the same to others, is the basic aim of introducing this section. It offers a range of robotics workshops (including both mechanical & electronics approach) for enthusiasts and hobbyists. Workshops are affordable with the package including a full set of components and study material.

Phases:

  1. Mechanical approach to build basic robots to serve one object.
  2. Electronic implementation of robots.
  3. Microcontroller based robots.

CIRCUIT DESIGNING

As an “electronics engineer”, one is required to have a sound understanding of the construction, identification, characteristics, specifications, merits, limitations and applications of electronic components and materials.

Circuit designing is focused to fulfill this void. It will make students play with the circuits.

Phases:

Phase 1. This phase will be preliminary one, involving learning of minute practical details of basic electronic components-resistor, transistor, ICs etc.

Phase 2. This phase is a step forward of actual realization of circuits on bread board.

Phase 3. Proposed PCB designing will be the interesting part of this phase.

TECHNICAL PAPER PRESENTATION

Technical paper presentation is one of the significant events aimed at excellence in technical communication in the domain of media technology. Here the budding engineers will present their innovative and pragmatic views. It will endow all the proficient students with a podium for the expression of their outstanding notions on upcoming technologies & will give them a chance to reconnoiter the engineering field.

Besides it will teach various tools involved in presenting an effective technical paper viz. slide preparation, its presentation and various dos & don’ts concerned with it. Prospective presenters are usually asked to submit a short abstract of their presentation, which will be reviewed before the presentation is accepted for the meeting. Based on this students would be presenting their papers.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS

An embedded system is a computer system designed to perform one or a few dedicated functions, often with real-time computing constraints. It is embedded as part of a complete device often including hardware and mechanical parts. In it you will learn architecture of the microcontroller (8051) and its programming using assembly language and C. During this session, you will be given special programs manifesting basic concepts used in 8051 microcontroller. Projects will be assigned according to the response and interest in the course. Examples of various projects are: people counter, digital clock, alarm clock, buzzer, application in robotics, etc.

DRIVE THE ELECTRIC DRIVES

This workshop will drive you into the city of machines. If the problems like- how does a motor run? What are the principles underlying? What would be the practical applications? Etc has been bothering you since so long, then, here is the place where you will get an elucidation to these. And a step further, you will be able to make a motor on your own!! The society aims to explain construction, principle and working of all the types of motors and generators in workshops. We then learn the applications and research further deep into its use and improvements possible in a given case (case study).

TECHNICAL QUIZ

This quizzy zone will squeeze out the best in electronics and communication from you. From elementary school level to graduate level, know all your facts and figures right. Periodically, various quizzes regarding basic Electronics and communication would be held to strengthen up the students in basic questions often asked in GATE exams, PSU exams and other entrance tests. Besides, a TSEC group has already been formed which circulates questions through SMSes.

Alas! The geeks find their ground to rule! So gear up yourself for the mindbender which will blast your mind!

DIGITAL ELECTRONICS

This section is an extension of circuit designing which involves the implementation of the digital electronics realistically. Various digital circuits viz. logic gates, adders, multipliers, flip-flops and so would be implemented on the bread board and then their further realization on to the PCB can be the further step.

Various circuits covered may be as:

Ø  Logic gates

Ø   Adders

Ø   Binary Multipliers

Ø   Flip-Flops

Ø   Counters

Ø   Registers

Ø  Multiplexers

Ø   Schmitt triggers

Moreover, focus will be made on the knowledge of some basic fundamentals of the digital electronics and then the further realization of the basic logic families.

GADGETS

A gadget is a small technological object (such as a device or an appliance) that has a particular function, but is often thought of as a novelty. Gadgets are of the foremost interest which make the electronics to rule the world. Now there will be no need to surf the internet or magazines for the latest in gadgets. Here you will be updated about the most recent in markets. Also you will come to know about the latest technologies. The objective would be achieved by the small presentations on the same.

COMMUNICATION

Well, this field has not been realized fully yet, but it is one of the proposed events. Plans are still on the pipeline as to how to actually realize the event. Proposals are on the conduction of seminars and workshops regarding antenna, wireless etc. So, as for now, work is still going on for the efficient organization of this event and is in the proposed events.

QUESTIONNAIRE & FEEDBACK

This is your problem tackle box. Here you can get solutions to any of your queries, be it of the courses or concerning the frames of the society. And of course one’s suggestions regarding improvement of the current status would be greatly appreciated.
